About Mrs. Haven
I was born in Tacoma, WA, grew up in Enumclaw, a little town near the base of Mt. Rainier, and graduated from Enumclaw High School. I attended the University of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, where I received my BA in Social Studies and Secondary Education. After my husband and I married, we decided to make the move to sunny Yuma, AZ. There I began my teaching career, teaching 4th grade at H.L. Suverkrup Elementary. Two years later, we made the move to Phoenix, and I taught 4th grade at Litchfield Elementary. For seven years, I was at Sonoran Heights Elementary in the Dysart district where I taught 4th grade for two more years and 6th grade for five years. In 2008, I received my M.Ed from NAU in Education Leadership and gained my Principal Endorsement. I spent one year here at PHES for the 2013-2014 school year. Four years ago, we decided to take an adventure to Alaska, living in Thorne Bay on POW Island where I taught grades 2-4. After just one year in Alaska, we missed our family and friends and moved back to Surprise, and we also came back to PHES. I'm excited to begin my 17th year teaching!
I live here in Surprise with my husband, Don (who also works here on our maintenance team), and our adorable daughter, Brighid. Brighid will also be here at PHES as a fifth grader. I love spending time with my family and we frequently go camping and explore the back roads with my Jeep. My hobbies include cooking and baking, and I dream of owning my own bakery one day.
